REQUIREMENTS

The essential requirements for gaining QH accreditation are:

  • Only healthcare organisations that provide care services may participate. IDIS does not assess organisations that only provide administrative services.
  • QH is a Synthetic Indicator of Quality (ISC) that groups together the different aspects of existing quality systems to recognise excellence and ongoing efforts in improvement in this area. For this reason, only institutions that hold certain certification/accreditation recognised by duly qualified bodies may request this recognition (the list of the most common is available in the Criteria section). The time scale for each assessment is established by the accrediting organisation.
  • QH Accreditation only accepts certification available to every type of institution, regardless of ownership. Therefore, certification that is only awarded to either the private or public sector is not assessed.
